Brown patches on my conifer

I think once a conifer has started to go brown for whatever reason it will not green up again it dies and could spread up the tree depending on what it is thats causing it 

Primula

I cut the spent flowers off my Primulas and they just keep going you can also split them in the Autumn to increase your stock of them nothing better than free plants,  if you do that cut off the flower stalks as they will die back anyway then next year will bounce back with gusto,  the Violas will as BL says carry on flowering they should flower even through the winter months as they are gutsy little things,  I don't like throwing plant's away either so will move them to another spot in the garden just to see how they grow.

Bluebells

 The first one is an English Bluebell the second is a Spanish one for me there is very little difference except the colour of the English is a lot bluer and maybe the bells on the English might be a bit larger as well

I have 6 of the easy fill baskets 12 inch ones,  I did have 6 of the 14 inch as well but as you say you need a lot of plants to fill them the other problem with the bigger one is actually lifting it to it's hanging position as by the time you have the compost,  plants and watered it there's one hell of a weight in them for that reason I stick to the 12 inch ones I also have the wall baskets which are just as nice.

And the question is ? 

Mysterious hole appearance in the soil.

How about a Bee,   I  get those sort of holes every now and then and some of them are right near the patio door so I guess a rat wouldn't dig a hole so close to a human,  a solitary Masonry Bee might be the culprit.

I've not had any bees either but I have had an 8 spot ladybird,  there's no flowers out yet for the bees,  this time last year the cherry trees near me were full of blossom there were loads of bees,  maybe when the weather gets better over the weekend they might show themselves,  do hope so.

Rose Blackspot

Could be due to frost maybe,  the thing with the dreaded Black Spot is to try and prevent it  if possible,  I suffer (well my roses do) from it big time so what I do is at the end of the growing season I spray the roses with Rose Clear and put some BFB done and dig it in remove all the dead leaves and bury a banana skin by the roots to give them extra potassium then leave them till Spring,  so,   what I've done up to now is spray the new growth and given them a dose of Rose Food  and so far so good apart from the new growth getting nipped by the frost,  it's one of those things for me at least takes some controlling, fingers crossed.

Hi GG,  as to whether I get another dog I'm saying no at the moment,  how I will feel a few months down the line might be a different thing,  I still have my cat although he will be 17 in August.

I've just got some hellebore's as well as I became hooked on them after seeing the lovely pictures of them on the boards I got 2 in a plant sale at my local B+M £2.99 both are Niger but I think someone said to try the Orientals type so that will be my next job,  I have £7.00 worth of seed in the GH at the moment but the instructions say it could take upto a year for them to strike so maybe this time next year I might have some more
