Wall to wall cloud but the heat is stupid at 25.0c in the garden I could melt,  the wind is getting very naughty coming from the South West really is blowing,  oh the sun has just got through,  had some terrible torrential  showers this morning boy was it bouncing.

No Ladybirds

I have 7 spot Ladybirds but I have'nt had any Butterflies at all,  and the bees are few and far between.   I keep finding the Ladybirds on the ground so I do tend to stop and pick them up and put them on the nearest plant,  folk going past me must think I'm mad,  I don't care we need them.

Cats!!!

I have now resorted to a water pistol,  great fun,  I managed to zap the cat 3 time this morning, I have 2 cats of my own but they don't go out so get really p******d off with this one,  I don't have a water tap outside so can't put one of those Animal Deterrents so I just hope the cat gets the message.

Wall to wall cloud but biy has it been warm,  at one point in the garden it was 22.2c little to no wind,  the sun did manage to get out about 5.15 when I took the dog out gosh it was hot,  the dog does'nt do heat so didn't get very far,  it's quite cloudy now at 21.27 but a lovely sunset and 17.4c so still nice,  wonder how long it will last.

scaredy cat plant, does it work

I may have the answer,  a water pistol,  cats don't like water fired at them,  so my neighbour in the flat upstairs has bought 2 and given one to me,  I have heard this before about a water pistol,  only takes a few "squirts" on the cat then it get's the message so it's primed and loaded resting up against the kitchen window,  watch this space

scaredy cat plant, does it work

I had them in the garden last year and the cats just ignored them so for me that was a waste of money,  at the moment I'm trying the Citronella on sticks method but of course all the rain has put paid to that,  in all honesty nothing works apart from netting the area or maybe the water cannon that you fix to a hose pipe but that has to left on 24/7 till the cats get the idea,  you could get a child's water pistol but then that means you have to sit around for hours waiting for it to get into shot.

Propagating Fuchsias in water

Posted: 24/06/2012 at 13:06

The only problem doing it this way is the roots will not be a strong so take extra care when potting them on,  I used to do the water way but then started to use the gel method which was equally thrilling to watch the moved on again to hormone powder,  for me the powder works faster but you don't get to see the rootlets grow,  as long as all methods work why worry.

Clematis pruning

To quote what Monty Don said about Clematis " If it flowers before June no need to prune" but found this anyway.

I have sunshine today but the sky is full of cloud some whit and some black,  the wind still blowing but has eased off to a strong breeze but it's 18.3 in the garden so can't complain about it being cold.
