March in your Garden

Posted: 13/03/2013 at 12:22

I put one of my plastic GH's in the kitchen so I could get the seeds away,  normally only half of them take for me,  but this year oh no every one of them seems to have taken,   the problem now is not much room for them when I've pricked them out and it's far to cold to put them in the one outside even though it has a fleece cover on,  it's dropping down to below freezing on a night so I'm going to be very ruthless when pricking out

How tidy is your garden?

I'm like that Verdun,  I'll put plants where there's space must be the right colour is my only concern but I do like a nice clipped edge on the grass,  but are we really happy in the garden,  I find myself, when sitting in a chair,   enjoying that strange yellow object thinking  Oh maybe that would have gone over there and can I move it to another bed,  but then that's all the fun and enjoyment of gardening

What's the weather like in your area?

Woke up this morning to a good covering of wet snow about an inch worth,  then the sun got out and melted it all away,  it was 5c a few moments and out of curiosity I got last years diary out to see what the temperature was and got quite a shock,  the 12th March for last year was 17.4c and 13th was 11.4c it did get steadily warmer till 27th when it was a staggering 24.9c I remember sitting out in the garden just enjoying it,  stayed hot until 31st when it dropped down to 9.9c then the snow and sleet came back and the rest of the year was consigned to history

I've used that Erin for the first time this year and I'm  well impressed with it,  I used to get B+Q's own but since it changed to Verve it's not the same texture it's not broken down properly and still got massive lumps of wood in it

Your Favourite Tools

I would say my dutch hoe,  hand trowel and ratchet pruners,  I use the hoe for just about everything even doing the lawn edges,  I do have a lawn edger but the handle's not as long as I like.
