nearly burnt the roast spuds reading all these posts!

I lived near Ash (Canterbury), now live near Notts in small village called Cotgrave

Did live in 3 bedded house (small garden) but fell in love with a bigger garden that happened to come  with a small bungalow....who needs rooms anyway!

3 years in my lovely garden and still planning, still planting, still loving it...plus have an allotment too!

potato/bulb planter?

Posted: 03/03/2013 at 17:22

Hi all, can anyone help me please. When I was young,  my dad had a potato planter. Thats what he used it for, but it may have been a bulb planter? anyway it had long handles, you pushed it into the soil with your foot (as you do when digging) and pull handles apart, drop potato in, then push handles together to release the potato into the soil. I really think it may have been a bulb planter, but dad said it was for spuds....does anyone remember these, or know where I can get one?  thanks in advance.....

who's burying the plums?

Posted: 18/09/2012 at 17:19

hi all, whilst preping soil for green manure, I raked 2 perfect plums up from just under the surface...2 teeth marks, but otherwise ripe and juicy....but who put them there? I havent seen any squirrels on the allotment site, so maybe not them? but who else would do that? surely not a rat? or a hedgehog? can anyone demystify the puzzle for me please?
