Bindweed? Knotweed? advice appreciated

Posted: 27/07/2013 at 14:40

hi,

the best way is to allow a plant to make its maximum amount of growth, round about august for those two weeds, and then to pull it or cut it at the base.  all that strength the plant has built up over the summer will not go back into the root-system.  do this every year and you will weaken it.

cheers.

hi,

those rat-tailed maggots monty was tipping out without regard, were drone fly larvae.  drone flies are a gardeners' friend and eat all kinds of sap-sipping insects.  just think before disgarding.

what a great suggestion to encourage the public to go out there and pick primroses.  you really do need to keep that man on a leash.
