Ha haa can't wait for christmas.....

I only blogged (wrote) as far as the roof! its a long story why I never got around to the finished build that I don't want to bore you with. I keep saying I'll re-write it and put it in better order you need to scroll down to the bottom to start at the begining. The actual buil was the easy bit, the internals was where the nightmare begun!

Hi petal7, I bought some yew bare roots earlier in the year and wish I'd brought them on in pots first, I think I'm loosing a couple as there's no sign of new growth. I supose it down to how long are you prepared to wait befor planting them where you want them.

oooOOooo thats a good idea GillyL, I bought one last year as it smells like citrinella and hoped it would keep the midges at bay, mine is in a pot and looks lush right now, I'm going to try that in my kitchen! thanks for sharing. I also have a lemon verbena which smells more like lemon than the lemon balm

I move mine last year as we where building over the patch where it was, it came back but hasn't flowered  maybe next year. If it invades why not plant it in a pot and sink it like you would with garden mint? just a thought it does smell divine.

I'm a bit disapointed with my wisteria flowers I must admit, on the label when I bought it it showed lovely blue mauve flowers, it didn't flower for about 3 yrs now I get quite long tails of pale lilac and whiteish flowers that are quite spaced

It could be my soil type as to why its not as blue I suspect.

Chuckled at the coat hangers and sticky back plastic! Good luck with it all Sara it will be lovely to watch your project evolve, Have you thought about bloging it? I started to blog our house extension last year. I thought it would be informative for anyone thinking of doing their own extension, its lovely to look back on it.

I should have continued with....we don't have marginals just oxygenators and water lily's. Our last pond we had marginals and didn't have a problem keeping clear water. This one is wick with blanket weed that I have suggested trying the barley straw. I've even sugested we put a plastic crate in the bottom of this one to put marginals at the shallow end to see if it helps control the weed. We also have the filters running with a UV but still its green.

I don't blame you for not wanting fish sara, the pond is my husbands baby although he took a bit of persuading to make me an ornate pond cover to stop the heron's and next doors cats taking the fish, also to protect our grandaughter from falling in.

Its still waiting to be finished as he run out of steel, but once its painted up I think it will look quite sculptural. its loosly based on the blue peter one!

Fairygirl sorry can't help you with your iris' name but hey ho its beautiful. I'm sad I don't have one foxglove blooming this year  I didn't have much time for the garden last year it was like a building site! but I have put in some Milk Chocolate Foxgloves (kew collection seeds) hope these germinate, they've been in two weeks now and not a sign . I never even new Jacobs ladder was perfumed have to sniff it when it flowers.

Must admit I never used to like roses either but now I'm hooked on the old fashioned musky scented varietys, I have William Lobb, Ispahan and Alan Titmarch three gorgeous scents. I also have a white rose that climbs I think it maybe Iceberg and although I can't smell it the husband says its scented.
