Welcome to the potting shed

Posted: 25/09/2012 at 14:43

Hi all, An update on my pumpkins (first time I've ever grown them), the first one was coming along nicely when a pidgeon took a fancy to it!!! However, I had another little beauty on the same plant, its not huge but hey it's my first go.  My little veggie patch (very little) has produced some brill runners, mixed salad leaves, beetroot and courgettes.  May enlarge it next year.  Happy gardening. x

I have a rotary washing line, and love to see the washing blowing on it.  When it is dry I fold it down, put the cover on and tuck it into a corner till next time.

Talkback: Sowing vegetable seeds outdoors

Hi Gemma,  I grow my runner indoors too.  Don't plant them out until you have hardened them off though.  Put them outside during the day and bring them in at night for about a week, then it should be OK to plant them out.  Good luck.

I too have primroses in flower. However, I love the bright ones also, at this time of year they bring welcome splashes of colour to my rather bland garden.

Hello gardeners

So, hello everyone, this is my first time to the GW Forum.  I have been a subscriber to GW Mag for two years and absolutely love it.  I really love my garden although it is very much trial and error with me.  I am about to plant my first (very small) veggie patch although we (South Herts) had a light frost recently so I have started everything off in my conservatory (I don't have a greenhouse).  I am hoping to grow some pumpkins for my grandchildren, how much room will I need?  Happy gardening (when the rains stops). x
