Tree Ferns

Does anyone know anything about tree ferns??  I have a magnificent example which has always produced loads of large fronds every year, but last year only a few tiny fronds appeared (the trunk is about 4ft tall).  I always protect it from frost.  Somebody said I could saw a length off of the trunk and repot this section - any advice would be very welcome

Too late to plant Tulip/Daff bulbs?

Thanks, Leorna, J and others who have responded - I will plant the alliums in a large bucket and hopefully transfer them to the garden when the weather improves.  Will let you know what happens! After all, trial and error is all part of the gardening learning experience, isn't it?? 

Autumn planting of Alliums (not!!)

Is it too late to plant alliums?? (January)  I bought some earlier but haven't had the chance to plant them ..... they are large bulbs and need to be planted 8" down which will be hard in my clay soil (especially now it's covered in snow).  What should I do with them??

What about allium bulbs??  I bought some large ones before all the dreadful weather, so didn't get round to planting them - also it says to plant them 8" down, which will be very difficult in my clay soil.  Any ideas? (they are not suitable for planting in pots, apparently).

Thanks, I'll give that a go.  I did try some anti fungus spray at the end of last year as it looked so awful covered in powdery mildew, but didn't seem to make much difference.  Hope it's better this year, it's a cutting from my Dad's plant that I've had for about five  years and usually it is fantasic.
