mildew on flowers

Posted: 13/07/2014 at 08:25

I dont know what I have done wrong this year but I have mildew on my scabious, erysimum and stocks which I grew from seed. My sweet williams had

fungal leaf spot and 2 out of 5 of my black currant bushes are covered in powdery mildew.

Thanks for your replies. Just wondered if I could propogate them as a way of starting again. If so how do you take cuttings and how long before I have my new miniature bushes back?

Thanks everyone for those suggestions. The last one could be oregano as it does smell herby. Number three is not a foxglove but could be a penstamon as the leaves seem the same. Still not sure about number four. All I know is that I seem to have a lot of these!

Lincolnshire! I planted 2 packets of seeds, one was mixed wild flowers and the other mixed perenials. I lost the labels which told me which was which.

I bought 3 of these as little plants 3 years ago and planted them in pots. Year 2 they grew to about 2ft and were a delight to look at and also covered with butterflies. I pruned them as instructed and put them in a spare garden bed for the winter. In the spring I put 2 of them back in their pots and they have just started flowering but they are much bigger and a bit bare at the bottom. The one left in the garden has grown into a massive bush. When described as miniature bushes only hold true  when contained in a pot?

I think they are wild flowers!

Could anyone ID this plant for me please?

I have this in my border and it is one of my favourites as it keeps flowering for months and the bees love it. It is a definite bonus that it self seeds as I want more! I hsve the pink one two.

I am seriously considering digging up my lupins and delphiniums. They seem to be taking over my border. I was looking forward to the their colourful display and then it rained and rained. My border is now a mess, with lupins and delphiniums flopped everywhere. I tried tying them back up but the canes and twine look even worse. Should I dig them up or cut them down?

This is the rose in question. I think the stems with the white roses on are all coming from the graft. Will ring nursery tomorrow for instructions on pruning and let you all know. I am a bit worried that there will be nothing left when I have pruned off all the offending bits.

I will try and upload a photo tomorrow. I sent a message to Style Roses where I bought my roses from and they have asked for a photo too, so may get a solution from them. Will post their reply.
