Filling the gap

Posted: 13/07/2013 at 10:21

My Pittisporum seems to have given up the ghost in a major way. After treatment for rampant ivy growing through from next door, the large 20 year old busup has developed large gaps and is one I to its heart.  Should I take the whole bush out and star anew, or seek to insert over shrubs to cover the gap. If the latter, what would be recommended to grow we.l and provide much needed colour.

Talkback: Ask Adam

Hi Adam,
I have a 7ft high bush which I think is of the Laurel
family, looking at the leaves. A number of leaves, though, are curling and falling off. I can's see any sign of pest, caterpiller, mite or fungal inbfection.
Any ideas what could be the cause, and hiow I treat it?

Many thanks

hi all, got some bugs i'm stuck with.

Spotted Snake millipedes are also found in grass, If your garden had a wild lawnbefore you dug everything up, you may have a very healthy colony!  Contact some of the sports turf companies to see if they can recommend a soil wash, but you may need to steralise the soil with a garden-sized version of a flame gun - best of luck in clearing the little varmints.
