Strawberries and Roses

Roses form but seem  restricted in opening , strawberries appear, first feed with tomato feed, they reach the size of about 6mm across then appear as though they have been squashed.What is happening , any information would be very helpfull

Thinking of buying a gooseberry plant and also a redcurrant plant, has anybody got any advice on when to plant, what feed , when to harvest the fruit ,information required for next season. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks ..

No its more to do with the green recycling bin that you put grass cuttings etc in that I was referring to

Has anyone got any surefire ways to stop slugs and the like eating everything I've planted,It seems the only things they dont like are onions and potatoes that are thriving well in the veg patch . I did hear marigolds would be beneficial , I planted about 20 of those and they disappeared also, I would appreciate any help , thanks
