Rambling Rose

Posted: 04/06/2013 at 23:00

I planted a rambling rose a couple of autumn's ago, about 8 weeks after planting , we had a storm and my fence the rose was climbing up blow over snapping it , when the guy came came to replace the fence what was left of my rose was trampled on , leaving it looking dead to be honest ! Anyway we left it , the following spring it was so sorry for its self, fortunitly we have a supply of manure from daughters horse so i piled aload on spring and following autumn, this will be the second summer since the disaster and its looking really healthy and is proberly grown to about 5 ft high with lots of bushey growth. So i suppose i'd say loads of muck and patience is my advice

Trimming box.

Hi, i'm sure i heard on tv last week , they said trim box a few times a year during growing season ! I hope so , as I trimmed my box ball and small hedges yesterday. I was going to leave them but they had started looking unruly , so i gave them a light trim, as like you i would like some growth too , so gulp , fingers crossed . The other thing i heard was never to cut them in full sun as they scorch the leaves ...good look with yours

hi, i have had my garden for almost 4 years this plant pictured has been there all this time but this year has gone crazy , it must be due to the rotted manure i put on the roses next to it last year !!! but it wonderful for a short time then almost disappears , someone suggested it may be a skunk cabbage but i cant a similur one pictured ! the roses next to it are very old original to my victorian house i have been told ! The garden was in a state when i bought the house and have tried to keep the bones as much as possible, but this plant has me straching my head !!!
