Can anybody identify this?

Posted: 08/07/2013 at 22:29

oh i don't know i've seen and had much worse -- Japanese knotweed, marestail etc, your weed isn't that bad compared to mine LOL

is it really a weed, can't you dig it up and stick it somewhere else out of harms way ???

Non-flowering lupins

Posted: 08/07/2013 at 22:15

hello, that's really odd, have never heard of that before. all my lupins were small when bought two years ago and virtually flowered the same year.

how tall are they now and have you looked into the centre of the plant to see if there are any flower stalks at all ??

if it was me, i'd be having a good rummage around the plant if all the others around it are doing ok.

hope this helps

Help needed

hello, i have lots of perennials in my garden and would like to make more for free. the problem is i don't know how to do this.

can anyone suggest a good book that gives simple advice for beginners with photographs as i'm not an expert & sometimes don't understand the technical jargon used. i've heard people talk about how easy it is to do this but i can't even get my Xmas cactus to root from cuttings.

thanks for any suggestions

Rose bush failing

Posted: 06/07/2013 at 22:14

hello, if you've only recently planted out the roses, you'll need to keep them well watered until they're well established. give them a good soaking either first thing in the morning, or late evening (especially now the weather has turned hot).

they also like lots of manure (well rotted) around the base of the trunk.

if you dead-head the flowers, they'll keep producing more blooms right through the summer until the autumn/winter.

hope this helps

Taking cuttings

Posted: 02/06/2013 at 20:46

hello, i've recently taken some cuttings of xmas cactus as my plant is very overgrown and they're in the greenhouse at the moment. as i wasn't sure whether to take long or short cuttings, i've done both. i dipped the ends in rooting powder as i didn't know if they'd take without it.

my question is will all the cuttings take and how long will it be before i know ???

i've never taken cuttings from this plant before so don't know what to expect.

thanks

Mystery Plants from inherited garden

How fab, starting from scratch. i'm envious of your shed it looks great !!!

i have an old ornament that i dug up from underneath a border that was filled with all kinds of debris from the house when it was initially renovated about 20 years ago. We painted him and his little dog (he looks like he's hiking with his companion) and now they both live under my dwarf apple tree, they looks as if they belong there !!!

good luck with all your projects, there's a mine of information on this site.
