Blackberry

My two year old blackberry flowered abundantly this year and the early berries were large and well formed but after a few weeks the rest have shrivelled before they reached even the unripe red stage, I cut off buckets full of would be berries and their adjacent dead leaves. The plant generally looks very healthy. Too much water? too little water? Or what?

Pear leaf disease

The two fruiting branches of my young pear tree are looking healthy. The vast majority of the tree has rapidly been attacked by something which has caused the leaves to droop and have red-brown patches. What has caused this? Is it treatable and will it affect my four apple trees?

Squirrel trouble?

My red and orange tulips are being bitten off just below the bloom. They are left on the ground. I've lost up to three a day. They seem to be vandalised in the morning. They are in a secure back garden. We have squirrels doing other damage, could they be the culprits? Any solutions?

Plum Fruit Moth?

Thanks Fidgetbones and all other comments, helpful and interesting.

I'm wondering if it's just a bad year for moths. Certainly I've seen more butterflies, wasps and bees in my garden thean I can recall in 40 years.

Plum Fruit Moth?

I have a victoria plum tree about 6 years old. About half of the 200 or so plums have been attacked by Brown Rot. A lot of the rest have black around the stone and pink grubs. What is it? I shall make sure they are all disposed in the bin but can I prevent it next year, ideally organically. I estimate that I have lost about 80% of the crop with the two problems.

I have just begun to harvest my King Edward potatoes. The soil is sandy and very slightly alkaline. The potatoes are all healthy but rather small. I wanted some really large ones for jacket spuds.  The Charlottes did well. Any suggestions improving  next year's King Edward or  suggest another for a baking ,boiling and jacket all-rounder main crop? Thanks.

I have a Morello cherry, about 4 years old, which I’m growing as a cordon on a north-west facing fence. It makes prodigious growth, I prune about 75% each year. However it has so far produced half a dozen cherries. I’m guessing the soil is too fertile in that spot of the garden but I can’t move it elsewhere. I have a similar aged dessert cherry which is producing a reasonable amount of fruit.  Is there any way I can encourage more fruit and less growth?
