Thanks. I wont be able to move it but will make sure it is not open to rain or wildlife until it dries.

Last winter we used hot water to thaw the water in my concrete birdbath. This resulted in the inside breaking up making  it difficult to clean. As there appears to be another bird pox around I wondered if there is something safe to paint the inside with to make it easier to keep hygienic. Any ideas?

pear tree problem

Lack of fruit may be down to the weather. Our trees were in blossom just when it turned cold and windy so there were very few pollinating insects out and about. I tried the feather duster trick and do have some fruit on pears, apples and cherries. Keep an eye on the yellow spots as they could turn into a raised blister. If they do you should remove them before they fall burn or bin them don't compost them.

Hampton court show

I went to HC this year. I found it quite depressing how the people on the show gardens could not in most cases answer qustions on the plants etc and quite openly said " I know nothing about plants!" I felt that they were a bit like the women drapped (or used to be)across car bonnets in car shows.

I enjoyed both Chelsea and HC on the TV and will save my money next year and put it towards the TV licence.
