Thank you for your comments. I will keep it in a planter and enjoy it kept smallwe so I can have the best of both worlds. The trunk is starting to turn white which I'm very pleased about

I have a silver birch in a large pot. I'm  wondering if I take it out the pot and cut off the tap root and then plant in the garden, would that keep the tree smaller or is that wishful thinking ☺

In that case it hasn't any roots at all just a stump where I cut it thinking that it would be ok. Oooops not my best move for the poor thing. Looking at it today I think the best thing is for it to go onto the compost heap.

Many thanks for your replies I really do appreciate them.

Thank you so much for your replies. I will see which ones I like the best as they are all new to me this year and try a bit of both methods and see how I get on.

dahlia planting

I live in South Lincolnshire and would like to plant out dahlia tubers and leave them in the ground as I don't have any luck in keeping them over winter in the greenhouse. This last winter I'd covered them in newspaper and put them in dry planters but to no avail all rotten.

Any advise would be very welcome

Hi, I have a very rampant climbing rose which hasn't flowered very well this year. Am I right in thinking that in the spring I can cut it down to almost ground level and let it start again or is that totally wrong!?!?!?

Help, my lovely Stephanotis leaves are going yellow and dropping off and I've no idea why.

It is a bright position and is kept moist and I feed it a weak tomato fertiliser monthly so can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong??
