Spotted this little insect (beetle?) while wondering round the garden this morning, it is about the same size as a ladybird, with gold and red stripes along the back, couldnt see underside without disturbing it.

Grandpa had one just like it

Well my grandad wasnt interested in gardening whatsoever, but when i was young i used to go and play in the mud and could often be found climbing the compost heap, digging for worms and watching them riggle in my hand after finding them.

It was on the pot hole filled path along the middle of the allotment site that i first rode my bike without stablisers when i guess i was 4 or 5, i recall shouting at my dad not to let go (he wa supposed to be holding the seat) only to look round and see him miles behind having already let go and me triumphantly riding without them, upon turning round i lost control and ended up in someone elses allotment plot.

Buddleia - Flower Power

I have just recieved my order for Buddleia flower power i placed several months ago, i was advised that October/November was the correct time for planting, just wanted to check if this is correct?

The plants have been delivered in approx 1 litre pots and are about 1.5-2 feet high, rather spindly but i supose that is what is to be expected when buying a young plant (not plug)

I have 3 plants so could mix when/where they are planted.  I intend to have one in a container permently and another in a border, unsure on location for the third yet.

Can anyone help

Interesting fact about that plant.

All parts of the plant contain tropane alkaloids. The berries pose the greatest danger to children because they look attractive and have a somewhat sweet taste. The consumption of two to five berries by a human adult is probably lethal.

Morning All,

I bought some plugs months back and potted them into 3 inch pots and then forgot about them, i was intending the plant them next year but having just been reminded of them i went to check and they are all in need of potting on.

Just before i start to pot them on, i am right in assuming its too late to plant them straight out in final position?

Most of my acers in pots have started to drop leaves, one in fact is almost bare, i dont think there are any problems and the well established ones at my parents look much the same.
