Are you sure the dog isnt repeat offending on the same spot?

The dogs we had while i was a kid always went in the same spots, so the grass never got chance to grow before it was killed again.

You could change the dogs diet slighty, change food type/brands, put more water down, this will help to dilute the excess nitrogen in the dogs urine.

Watering the spot after the dog has done his business will also dilute the urine, although this would require a lot of effort on your part.

Hi,

Got my greenhouse earlier in the week (only a 4" x 6") which does not come with a roof vent, i assume this is because its a budget one and the manufacturers are trying to keep cost down.

I would like to get a louvre vent in rather than a window and was having a look around, the ones ive found tend to be 611mm wide (standard width) but on 440-480mm high, now the panels that i put in are standard 611x611 glass, does this mean i need to get a pane cut down to 200mm to put inthe gap above the vent or is there a vent that is the same size as a standard pane?

Also do the auto louvre vent thing fit any type or do i need to match them?

Thanks in advance.

I line mine with weed control fabric, but i also use decking boards for all my garden projects so they are pre-treated.

Greenhouse

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a greenhouse and have been looking around via google searches trying to find a resonably priced greenhouse.

Does anyone have any recommendations of companies to use?

I am looking for a small one which makes it harder, ideally, 4 X 6 (the door on the 6" side) and i was intending to get a glass one rather than poly.

tanalised wood

I looked into this before making my raised beds out of decking boards, and the answer is recent pressure treated wood is not dangerous, that said, boards from before ~2003 could be.

Here is a link to one of the sources i used.

I had asimilar problem a month or so back and was advised to either take the plants outside for the day occassionally, or manual polinate.

I tend to get my paint brush out and give each flower a littel tickle, since starting this the chilli plant has produced lots of huge chillis, i am just waiting for them to turn red, although i have eaten quite a few in the green state which are just as nice.

caterpillars

I have had a similar experience although not to this level, i am just letting them get on with it and if it helps the wldlife then so be it.

I discovered what i believe to be Leek Moth caterpillars in abundance eating their way through the onions, garlic and some of the lettuce, the lupins and hollyhock have lots of holes but are still ok to look at.

Why won't my tomatoes ripen?

i put a banana in with mine to assist in the ripening (advised by dad)

the plants with bananas are ripening for me,while the one without are slightly behind.
