Clematis

Posted: 28/06/2013 at 15:42

How can I tell which clematis I have, I believe they fall into 3 groups, there were 5 in the garden when when I moved in.   I cut them all very short at the end of last year  but I think I got it wrong as 2 have not yet produced any buds or flowers and one produced one very large double frilly lilac and white flower at the bottom, but so far no more..

Worm cast & Mushrooms on Lawn

Thanks for all the advice, my mushrooms are yellow ones, brown ones and white ones, non of them look like the supermarket variety, so I guess I will just enjoy looking at them as they are rather pretty.

OH having chicken curry, well it's Saturday so its curry, I am having an Asda ready meal, I love curry but it doesn't love me, so I always have to have something else. This sounds really boring compared to your meal bjay, so I will have to have extra wine to compensate

Worm cast & Mushrooms on Lawn

Yes it's me again, the longer I live here the more problems I find, now its hundreds of worm casts in the lawn also big clumps of mushrooms. HELP  what can I do. We can't avoid walking on the lawn to get to the borders, I have been using a besom on the worm casts  when they are dry enough or even trying to pick them up but the lawn looks a mess.

Thank you for that, I will cut the Buddleia back now and then in Feb/March I will cut the main trunk down to knee height and hope for the best.  Also thanks for the advice on leaf mould

Buddleja

Moved house last year, lots of plants too big for thier place and too crowded, but a particular problem is the Buddleja, its like a small tree, thick 3' + trunk, huge top heavy crown, overall about 7' tall, I pruned it last year but it still got so heavy that we had to tie it to the concrete fency post as it was in danger of falling over. Can I cut into the main stem to shorten it to about 2', will any new growth come from this or will it die. Also can I collect all the leaves from a variety of trees around the garden and leave them in a spare black bin to make leaf mould, if so how long will it take before I can use it.
