Planting Tulips now or later

Posted: 18/09/2012 at 16:45

Kate is confirmed as right -it is to do with viruses and at what temperature they operate-so planting later when it is colder and the viruses less active is the reason

Strangely enough MD mentioned planting tulips late in last week's GW but did not give a reason

Daintiness-what about cutting a bit of the top of a small coke or something similar bottle so that the neck bit supports the bulb?

With the water in it it should be quite strong and no glass bits to drop?

All the advice is you can plant all spring flowering bulbs from now except tulips but can't remember why-they are best planted from November onwards-that bit I do know

There is a reason -someone will illuminate

Jean- the brown with red comb is 2 years old-I am surprised she let the 3 new ones near her-Jo they are extras-now back to 6 again.

You do not need a cockerel to get eggs- they should start laying in about 2 weeks or so-you only need a cockerel if you want baby chicks- as in humans

People give cockerels away as they are just a pain

He was a big shy dog and they just didn''t give it enough it time -the good news is he did get re-homed eventually so at least they did get paid twice-no refunds-I am surprised that they let the film remain unedited as they are now known as villains

I was at the Stubbington Ark and saw someone bring a dog back after a week as it didn't get on with the family-they got a good well-deserved telling off

Kate it was a work room/shed but didn't take as long as I thought it-painting stuff is not my forte it is so tedious.

Did anybody see Paul O'Gradys programme on Battersea Dogs Home?-a couple fostered a dog but bought him back 2 days later as they couldn't cope-the website must explode after these programmes

Te best time to prune is around February when you can see where the new buds are-doing it now will encourage fresh growth that could be damaged by heavy frosts

Having said that you could still remove any really old and dead stuff now but leave the main pruning till later.

Have been hanging out the washing -there is a chilly wind out there

Lottie you must be superfit or are you just trying to avoid smelly work-mate?

Back from the shed treating-I was told I smelt and have had a shower-now all clean and shiny again and a few quid better off

Warmth ripens tomatoes be that natural or otherwise-the banana thing is supposed to speed them along-but once one ripens the rest soon follow-they will be lovely on December25th

I cannot see how you can immunise a wild animal -is that practical?

Kate glad to see you are taking this seriously

I know nothing about witches-though some of my relatives over the years have been called evil witches
