If you allow six weeks or so from sowing to going outside you are not far away-next year sow mid-April-your mates will be here to talk you through-what happens next is weather related

I was having a tin barf-but it may be another month at least this is the problem with outside growing you at the mercy of the elements-but on the upside- you grew them

This is what Dove says up-thread-the RSPCA are sometimes slow to act -perhaps all three is the way to go

Most Police Authorities have a Wildlife Crime Liaison Officer or even a whole squad or similar.  

The mud nests under the eaves of houses will belong to house martins, not swifts which are more likely to nest under the roof tiles, but it is illegal to destroy martin or any other nests.

You can try salt on dandelions and such like in the lawn-if you just out put on the weed -there are proprietary lawn weed killer that just kill broadleaved weeds and do not harm the grass-vinegar will damage everything-it can't tell the difference.
