I think you may have answered your own question-watered well could be translated as over-watered-is there sufficient drainage?-if the leaves showed signs of wilting but the compost is damp adding more water compounds the problem

I would carefully extract it from the container and inspect the roots-it may be saturated or it could be the dreaded vine weevil attack.

Could you come back and tell us what you see?

I am not quite sure what you mean by is it safe?

You won't harm the hedge if you cut it-but if you go into brown wood it will not grow out again-it may look a bit unsightly

Jean-that is too bright for this time of the morning

HMRC-have very kindly told me by e-mail that I am due a refund of £250-all I have to do is to give them my bank details and they will pop in there-isn't that nice of them?-I have 72hours or it goes to the orphanage.
