Well am back -they call it diamond day cos I am a diamond-they are virtually paying you to take plants away-have come back with 5-not-full -trays of bedding and paid all of 52p-10 or so begonias were 5p-so I now have geraniums, begonias and more petunias-where are they going to go?

Watched LYG this morning as well -it was better- not so much treacle-but they do know how to spend money-shows what can be achieved on an unlimited budget

I am not an OAP by the way -I am of a certain age.

That is annoying about the plants -perhaps you can send her some of the bargain perennials?

Damp and dismal again-trying hard to look on the bright side of life

Will go out later and see I can find a suitable replacement for the deceased flowering currant or some cheapo bedding.

Line of Duty excellent last night in my opinion.

Gardeners World - not back for 4 weeks!

Posted: 04/07/2012 at 07:13

There are a lot of people who for one reason or another can't get outside or don't have gardens-to them the tv is their world and the only way they get to see sporting events-you can't right everybody off as couch potatoes.

As I keep repeating GW being off is not just for sport -it is for the proms as well but strangely enough I don't see any body saying they don't like that.

To give a bit of balance this is a one-off Olympic year in this country, there is a big football tournament every 4 years,Wimbledon is every year,GW always gets displaced-there are still over half of the scheduled programmes to be shown.

The point surely is we should get both but lets not knock the sports lovers they have their interests too and that, no doubt for some, includes gardening.

My dream garden

I have a dream

-where my lawn goes brown from lack of rain, where I can understand why I shaded the greenhouse, where I can lounge in the garden, where I need to you use the hosepipe and water containers twice a day, where plants wilt in the heat, where I can sleep with the windows open, where I get insect bites, where people moan about the heat, where we are told to cover up in the sun,and where the sun shines continuously for more than 3 days without a thunderstorm.

I am a bloke -the only one round here-and blokes do not do sparkly except on the ball gown-I am going for the understated look.

Jenny-is that the bathroom finished?-I have a broken leg story about bathroom decorating that you could use as a health and safety warning
