Talkback: Garden spiders

Posted: 02/10/2013 at 13:59

I always have conkers in the corners of the living room... My mum did it to prevent spiders and now so do I!! Although they are free to roam around the rest of the house( glen has been in the kitchen now for well over a month!) mmmm the fact I have names the spider glen and I will admit to talking to him while I bake think I may have a loose conkers in my head!

Morning all.... Chicky will pm you the recepie tonight I'm making mine on Friday! Love the green man image for verdun I think it is a brill choice. Had a lovely conversation with my cab driver this morning about autumn.. I said autumn is definitely here and he asked " why do people always say that with sadness. People always treat autumn as an end to the summer why not the start if the spring. Plants need to die to come back bigger and better next year. Autumn to me is a magical time of the year. The possibilities for next year, the colours and sounds even the sun positions herself to bring the best out of everything for us." I was quiet (unusual) for a bit and then agreed with him totally saying I had never thought of it like that then he came up with another gem" people have never liked winter it's a conceived time of hardship and struggle for survival it's ingrained in our prehistoric psych" .... Blown away I told him he had given me a lot to think about he just laughed and said " or is it too early for my philosophies" I told him not at all and that I hoped to continue this conversation at a later date! as a consequence I have changed my mindset about autumn from en of summer to beginning of a life cycle hurrah for autumn

Beware of whitefly if you bring them In. It can weaken the plant, you can get some rods to push into the soil that deter them ( sorry don't know name but bayer make them) they work v well and also release a few nutrients
