Morning all I need coffee.... Been up since 3am and am now in Liverpool sadly no time to pop into tatton park and after the disappointment of hampton not sure I would anyway!!!! Going to have to trust the under Gardner to water tonight as can't see me getting home till late!!!! Another chilli plant question :o)

Posted: 15/07/2014 at 13:55

I concur do not pinch out. the side shoots chillies are not "cordon plants" by nature they are bushes and so they try to do that! Varieties like Jo long hace less side shoots as they produce a larger stem however chillies like apache should keep the side shoots to promote more growth flowers and eventually fruits. If you have a large chilli plant as mentioned above or cherry bomb then the only issue is weight of the fruit breaking the stem but then you just stake!

Suggestions for plants to grow in pots in shade/wind please?

Fox gloves do well in pots for height and add a bit of ivy. There are some stunning hybrids on the market ATM ( digitalis illumination) hellibores for the spring?

Xhose - Expandable hose - any good?

Still I like the fact it could be warm for 40 days... Verd the paddling pool is more like a mini pool and my lo is a water baby ( swam a width on her own last week and only 3 years and 2 months old!!! Proud mum) that's what I meant when I said I would love to see a garden design that incorporates children toys I have to contend with the big yellow and green slide/ climbing wall and now an 8 ft pool/ paddling pool.... Try making a garden look good around that!!!!

Ankle boot for summer lol with chillies on from a reputable "back door" boot company , x1 blue with white horses for woodland walks and fashion wear as they have a slight heel ( yes I know they were a Xmas present) and my old fave pair that despite the grotty appearance and to be honest smell I refuse to throw out as they have my name on them!!!! Bizarre but also a Xmas present lmao.... A  girl can never have to much waterproof footwear lmao
