Begonia Tubers

Posted: 11/03/2014 at 15:53

The prop lid is vented so no condensation builds.    Its a new lid.  Last year I used a non-vented cover and some  tubers rotted. Now I know why. Hope I get lots of shoots like yours show.  Mags

Also Chilli seeds can be kept for years and still germinate. I'm using 5-year old seed this year.  Mags

I've put these on 3.5ins pots of moist compost and they are covered with a vented propagator lid.  What's the best place for them?  They are in an east facing room, in a shady corner. Should I place them on the window sill (d-glazed) where they will get full morning sun or will they be best left where they are?  The radiator is not on.   Many thanks for advice, Mags

Avid gardener with young children

Posted: 22/02/2014 at 11:30

When I was a child I 'helpfully' picked all the green plums from the tree to help the tree with June Drop, I think I was 5 and had heard Daddy talk about.  I got whacked for that, but my Dad then started to teach me about gardening matters!

I know what to leave alone now, and a lot of my info is thanks to this website and the helpful answers.  Mags

How often should Growmore Granules be used as general purpose fertilizer?  I often hear its use advised on gardening programmes, but no-one ever says how often!  Your opinions would be appreciated.    Thanks, Mags

Is it ok to remove all the dead and yellow leaves from my strawberry plants now?  They are growing in troughs and one trough is 1 year old plants, the other trough is 2 year old plants and I have baby plants from runners in pots.  Mags
