No flowers on gladioli

Posted: 25/09/2015 at 19:48

Well, my glads have been in for 8 years now and always done brilliantly.  I never lift them. This year the very few flowers I got were small and deformed.   I treated them no different to previous year so I think it must be the weather this year.  Mags

I have  a Miscanthus sinensis 'Kleine Silberspinne'. It doesn't seem to be producing any 'flowers'.  (Panacles?)  I bought it this time last year. I have kept it well watered. Should I have been feeding it with anything?  Mags

Cornflowers for next year

I've had lovely cornflowers I grew from seed.  Will I have to sow fresh seed for next year or will they reseed themselves all over the place?   thanks, Maggie

caterpillar id please

I saw  a caterpillar today I wondered if anyone can identify it for me?  Sorry, no photo.  It had bright yellow, long hairy body with a faint orange colour along spine. The head was small and black.  About 2 inches in length.  It was moving quite speedily (for a caterpillar!) across a car park in S. Staffordshire.  Can anyone suggest what it might be please?  Many thanks, Mags

I haven't seen even a single one here in my Staffordshire garden.  Mags

PS - I think the number of spots indicates what sort of ladybird it is.
