Rasberry Problem.

Posted: 03/09/2014 at 22:04

I have a couple of rasberry bushes planted in containers last year.  They have produced probably 50+ fruits beteeen them this year.

However the leaves, especially the lower ones have been practically skeletonised.  Can't tell what it is - it's not slugs.

Any advice please ?

Hi Alan, been feeding it FBB for a few weeks. Haven't watered due to the amount of rain we've had. It is growing in a gravel bed - no other plants nearby.

Hi, I planted my magnolia stellatta in 2012. For the second year running now the leaves form in early spring then turn yellow then brown in mid May before dropping off within a few weeks. No blossoms yet - plant has only grown about 6 inches in 2 years. Any advice please

Hi Lyn,
it does look exacly like yours but if left it spreads amd eventually kills the whole plant.
Your garden looks great by the way.

Saxifrage Problem

I planted 40+ Saxifrage plants last year and they've spread to about 16 to 20 inches in diameter producing a fabulous display of flowers this spring. However I've lost 6 or more plants due them turning brown at the centre, spreading and eventually killing the plant. What's causing this ? and what can I do about it ?

Thanks both,  I'll do as you say.

The pack I bought is multi coloured - may get some more.

Thank you, but would they grow through the gravel ?

I've just bought a 50 pack of crocus bulbs. Can I plant in gravel garden ?

The gravel is approx 50mm ( 2 inches ) thick on weed fabric.

Only other alternative is to plant in containers.

Any advice please ?
