I know the sap from these are poisonous but inadvertently had some on my glove and without thinking wiped the corner of my eye, whilst cutting back a low slung branch -  OUCH is not the word for the intense burning sensation which took hours to stop..... Tried all the old eye remedies so the hospital for an eye wash was the only help.....

So this weekend sees my lovely large bushes being dug out from the front drive, just in case the kids brush against them..............

Hi Verdun

Are they like bamboo that they have rhizomes? If so will go out and take them out.

They are at the back of borders to cover a fence.

Maybe should have got Ribes

I am confused on what height/width this will grown too, I have bought two (on impulse today) and the plant label says 125cm and yet on some sites they state 250cm. I have a place for either size but would prefer to know so I place them correctly and not have to move them again next year.

I have been given two roots to plant from a friend that went to a plant fair this weekend. Hedychium Gardnerianum which from reading on google seems to be a member of the ginger family and appears to be invasive. The stickers on the roots say "Can grow to a height of 6ft but usually 3-4ft? Has anyone got this in their garden or had problems? Or would it be safer to pot up?
