Espalier Apples Trees

Posted: 06/05/2014 at 22:05

Hi would love to show a pic but its all been taken today by the bin men. We have been monitoring the problem now for a while and its progressed a lot since last year.

This is what we believe it to be but wondered if it would be safe to replace them with new trees in the same spot

Hi hope someone can help

I have the white fungus over my espalier Apple trees - they are in their 3rd year and  the branches are quite bare in places over the weekend we trimmed off the worst leaves and offshoots and they are looking quite sparse now. I don't want to put any chemical spray on as I am trying to keep the garden as chemical free as possible...

Is it true that if we decided to replace them later in the year with new ones that if we plant apples again the fungus remains in the soil?

Was a little horrified to hear on the Jeremy Vine show this week that there is still the annual massacre in Malta of birds returning to us from Africa.

You would think that in this day and age that the laws for grown men in their hundreds aiming shotguns to take down these beautiful creatures would be banned!! Sorry to rant but was really annoyed that this is still being practised - we are being warned all the time our birds are getting less you would think that the WWF would take this as a fresh and urgent challenge...... Sorry to rant

Hello this is the third year for my Fatsia but this spring its leaves are  looking very yellow and it has the odd faint white spots on some leaves. I have fed and mulched well and wondered could it be a result of the rains, although fortunately we had no flooding here
