Should I Plant or Pot

Posted: 21/03/2016 at 22:59

I have been given two roots to plant from a friend that went to a plant fair this weekend. Hedychium Gardnerianum which from reading on google seems to be a member of the ginger family and appears to be invasive. The stickers on the roots say "Can grow to a height of 6ft but usually 3-4ft? Has anyone got this in their garden or had problems? Or would it be safer to pot up?

Hi Lyn is it the black and blue that grows to around 5ft?

This may seem a silly question to ask but I have just bought the rusted iron stakes 142cm tall - how deep should they go in

Many thanks Verdun, the tender ones would they survive in Oxfordshire or what protection is needed as we don't have a greenhouse

I have been bitten by the salvia bug and last year bought a couple of hot lips that provided months of colour and brought in loads of insects.

I am considering getting the Amistad and Involucrata and any advise on a shorter variety for the front of the borders would be appreciated.

Sat here in the office and my colleague who has also spotted them has said that it looks almost spot on!! Although ours from memory seemed whiter - hopefully on next filling up the feeder they visit us again and we will be taking the phone to catch a picture......
