HESTIA dwarf r-beans

Posted: 02/06/2012 at 15:31

I am growing the same this year and think mine might need some stakes to hold them up.  If they get heavy with the beansI think they will fall over.. Mine are about 18" high at the moment.  I had to stake out my broad beans last year..  Sadly I dont have space for them as well this year.  I am a novice so everything is hopefully "touch and grow", I tend to cram everything in not realising how big they grown.

I  hate slugs and snails....i pick them off, put them on newspaper and pour salt over them..then wrap them up.   I have no mercy!  my mum chops them in half with shears... yuk

I always thought you needed a male and female plant... my friend used to go down in the night with a torch and "help" them out... I never really knew what that meant.. I have grown them without knowing which was which and still had masses of cucumbers.  Lets hope the same thing happens this year.
