withering dichelostemmas

Posted: 07/06/2014 at 15:05

Can anyone advise please?

Have some dichelostemmas in my garden since 2012, they appear quite happily each spring and the stems grow with flower heads on them. Then after a few days the heads almost see too heavy for the stem and the stems bend downwards and eventually dry up and subsequently the flower heads never seem to open and even drop off !! .Most frustrating as the flowers are obviously the reason for growing them. Any ideas ??

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if the fruits on  my Passionflower are edible ??

. It is a Passiflora cearulea and has flowered continuously for several months now and is covered in green smooth oval fruits....it seems a shame not to do something with them but do not wish to poison myself !!

Blossom less plum

Hiya,

Can anyone give me any ideas about what may be the problem with my plum tree.

It was planted in 2011 in a south facing border, protected from the north by a 6ft high wall but planted about 3 feet away from the wall.

It is about 7ft tall and is of a type called "opal"

The soil has been enriched in the past two years but not this year.

The plum looks healthy enough with lots of leaves and has grown since we planted it but it has never had any blossom.

Will it take several years to blossom, do I need to top dess the soil next year ?? Help. I was so looking forward to some plums !!

Have just seen plants called angelonia serena in B7 Q and they look interesting but very little info on the label.

Can't find them in any of my books.

Are they sun or shade loving, perennial or annual and how tall will they grow ??

Can anyone help please ?? !!

I have a hankering to grow a flowering standard plant in a South facing border to add a little height. The plot is shielded to the north by a wall and the soil is very free draining.I would prefer something that flowers in the summer........ideas anyone ???
