Hardening off and true leaves

Posted: 19/05/2012 at 18:56

Not sure if this observation is correct or not but it seems like the seedlings I have that has develped true leaves seems to be easier to harden off. Is there any truth in this you think?

The leaves on the ones at the garden centre was much bigger and less sound, but that might be breeding mine is a self-seeded plant from home.

Thought this might be easier to use than the links above. Can you edit posts?

What are these two plants

The first one I thought was a honeysuckle but after a trip to the garden centre I am not 100% sure,

The second one I think is some kind of wild allium but it doesn't smell of gralic when you touch it. The stem is round and not triangular (I pass on my way to work something similar to this but it is white with a triangular stem.)

Clematis Montana killed during winter

Posted: 19/05/2012 at 11:13

I have two Montana Prevail and I though the first one died two winters ago but it came back in the autumn. The following winter both looked like they had died since it was even worse. Cut them back and they came back with a vengance. No flower last year but this loads of them. I would not give up hope yet. The weaker one of mine took almost nine months to recover.

Is this a Marigold that has managed to seed itself into my pot of Coriander Calypso? No idea how it has done this as it has been grown indoors. It has now been exiled outside after a week of hardining off.

Wormery question

Posted: 18/05/2012 at 11:52
Mine are quite slow too at the moment. Any tips to improve the compost mine never really seems to be 100% finished and is usually quite wet. I tend only to add kitchen towel to it since adding newspapers and cardboard don't break down quickly enough.

Wormery question

Sadly my garden is too small to harbour a compost bin. That's why I got the wormery in the first place.

Wormery question

I have had a Stokes wormery for two-three years now and it is mostly working fine. No massive worm death yet but at the moment it is getting a bit out of sync. The bottom and middle trays are not ready and the top one was full but now have decayed to about 1-2 inches. So my question is I can add anything more to the top tray as it is now less than 1/3 full or wouldl that just make the top one too compact when I finally switch trays. I am currently sending the scrapps off via Bristol Councils brown bin scheme.
