Why is my thyme growing???

It's taken two years' to get here. Could it be that the soil is finally poor enough for it to thrive?

OK a bit of an odd opener but I have had these two plants for about 2 years and they have never really done anything just looked like they where planing to up sticks any day soon. Now they both have put on quite a lot of soft growth. Can't figure out why they have started to grow this spring compated to last. Its been cold and rainy here in Bristol and I thought they liked it to be dry and hot.

How deep do you need to plant the tubers?
I'll probably plant some in pots and the rest in the border using normal compost with s bit of added grit.
I thought you could overwinter them as dahlias?

Could anyone give me some advice on how to plant them. Bought 5 at Schiphol last night as I always wanted to grow them. The bag doesn't give any instructions bar plant April/May. They are currently in the fridge awaiting your advice.

Clematis Armandii Cuttings

Here in Bristol they seem to do well. They have all gone into gritty compost and been put outside. Fingers crossed.

Managed two years ago to take a cutting from a blue clematis which is in a big pot, dies back every year but never produces more than two leaves. Very odd.

Hahah. I thought it was obvious what I meant but apparently not! Found a toy car earlier this year in the garden who someone must have lost there ages ago and less fun the second floor neighbours window pane. Did they tell me or offer to clean up the mess. NO!

Found on my home from the gym today some branches of this clematis that seemed to have been ripped off so I thought I try to propagate them. From a quick google the best approach seems to be to cut back the leaves and then make a heal at the bottom of the cutting, dip it in rooting hormone and pop in a pot. Would this be what the consensus is and should I leave the pot outside in a sheltered position or keep it indoors until it has tooted. I probably have material for about five six cuttings.

I'm quite plesantly surprised to have found some plants I thought had snuffed it during last years horrible summer winter. After moving into my new place I had to relocate my Rip van Vinkle daffs because they didn't like it in the window box (too dark). The following year they didn't show up so I thought they snuffed it but oh no. They are back this year as is the ornamental alliums that I thought died last winter (or at leate there is something oniony popping up where they where). Finally one of my Babbington Leeks that I thought the birds eat has also poped up. Quite please with this.
