Weed (?) identification - when they are seedlings

I could be wrong but if you break the stem of one it should smell like onion/chive if it's an allium...

Planting bulbs in December

Posted: 05/04/2015 at 18:54

I planted my own that I bought around that time, and they've started coming up in the last two weeks, the mini crocuses have turned up and flowered, they only lasted a couple of days. Something's been nibbling at the others!

I've not heard from my dad, but I imagine his have started to show up too!

Watching seedlings grow

hello everyone (again-sorry I'm so sporadic)

Not done much this year so far-as the bleak photos of the garden show! But what seeds we have sown seem to have come up incredibly fast! Dahlias, Zinnia, Malva and Sweet Peas shot up after 4 days! Maybe Worcestershire has magic warmth!

OHs Zinnia and Sweet Williams going along happily, any idea on why the Echinacea has gone fuzzy/mouldy?! Apparently one of his Delphiniums on the far right has popped up - though I'm yet to see it

All of mine came up, and much faster than the OHs much to his dismay-not that we are competitive or anything! Dahlias were first and I'm guessing I should pot on, the Malva came up at the same time,  I've never grown it before, so any tips on what to do next are appreciated, Sweet Peas came next and are growing lots every day, they're a fragrant type called blue skies. I thought my black pansies weren't going to come up, but they arrived about two days ago and I can't wait for those to flower!

Planting bulbs in December

Bought some reduced bulbs today in a GC for my dad. Mainly tulips. They said that its ok to plant up until December, will he still get some results if planting after Christmas? They've been stored in a cold dry area so far.

Hello all,

When is it roughly you receive your magazines in the post? I appear to have missed Novembers and I don't know when Decembers is supposed to arrive.

Thanks

New garden new start... Fingers crossed

Well remembered! How sweet! Today is the move and as I write I'm sat in the garden waiting for the OH to bring the van and I'm taking the opportunity to get all sentimental and say good bye to the house and garden.

Will update as soon as we are settled because for the next few days we will be busy little bees!

Weeds - best suggestions new garden

Glyphosphate maybe? Found it killed off all my weeds, then it can be covered with a good quality fabric. Other than that it's just hand weeding as much as you can, you'll still have weeds when you have an established garden.

What weeds do you have if you know?

Wish list for seed and plant swap

I've got a big glass jar now Lynne. It'll be living in the window and it's got a nice big hole in it too. No terraniwotsit just yet. Need to go to ikea after the move! So it is small sedums I'm looking for. Or cactus seeds. No rush though.

My yellow sweetpeas changed colour eventually. Some were white some went a peachy pink colour. I didn't manage to save any seeds as they didn't cope so well in a pot!
