Cats

Hi Cler, have a look at this video.

One of his tips is lightly burying teabags sprayed with muscle spray (as you probably know, it stinks)! I'm going to try this myself, and they're my own cats!

Using the back button

I open a thread by using the right mouse button and clicking on "open in a new tab". That way I can just close the tab and I'm back to the other threads.

Purples in my garden but what colour for you?

Verdun, touché! I couldn't think of the names of the others!

I also love my dahlias ranging from dark red to white with pink centres. Actually, my garden is a mixture of colours, but I heart leaps when I see a blue flower!

Tina, I think it's definitely an age thing. Like you, when I was young I could lie on the beach from 9-5 roasting both sides, now anything above 26°C makes me wilt! I thought I would die during 2003!

Temp. got up to 10°C today so finally got off my chuff. Potted up my cannas which have been in the cellar and tidied up the front porch which has my overwintering plants. Tomorrow I will cut back and replant my dipladenia Sundaville which is in a hanging basket.

Pizza for dinner tonight then TV and check the Forum during the ads.

Peony Tree

Brumbull, I have had two of them for about 4 years, a white one and a pink one, both now about 4 feet tall. I planted them to the same level as in the pot, give them some tomato type fertilizer in early Spring. You may have to stake them as they get bigger. I cut off the dead flowers but leave the leaves, as it looks quite nice just with just the leaves. Have tried to leave one flower until it grows seed pods and tried to sow the seeds, but it didn't work! Each spring cut of dead stems down to the lowest buds.

Hope this helps.

High water table: dwarf fruit trees in raised beds?

Posted: 01/04/2013 at 15:49

Hi Whiteflowers, I am growing a dwarf apricot in a large pot 18in high and at least as deep as suggested by my supplier. As you can see, dwarf fruit trees need to be planted quite deep, so it depends on how deep your raised bed will be. I would recommend you plant them in a pot, in a mixture of compost and garden soil, that way you could move them around if necessary.

Love the brunnera, Liz, it's called caucasian forget-me-not here. I've got one that was here when we moved in 17 years ago and still going strong. It's made a few seedling which I've spread around the garden but still very small.
