Clivia (yellow)

No, leave it until it's filled the whole pot (it will grow side shoots). Once it's done that, repot it in only a slightly larger pot, you will have to poke the fresh soil well down the gap.

This is what mine looks like now (Google image, I have an orange one). See the size of the pot in relation to the size of the plant!

From what I can see the soil beneath them looks very dry. Maybe they just need a good drink!

Clivia (yellow)

Clivias like to be pot bound, so don't pot it on until it nearly burst the pot. Water about twice a week and give it some liquid fertilizer once a week.Don't put it out into strong sunlight otherwise the leaves will scorch, a light shady spot is best. It is not hardy, so bring it inside around mid-October and don't water it again until April at the earliest, then start to water and feed again.

Sounds like an hour well spent, Mike. Glad you seem to be feeling more cheerful. Hope the waterworks are improving!

How to increase soil temp (for growing sweet potatoes

Posted: 18/06/2014 at 07:04

I'm growing two sweet potatoes in my raised bed but as it get lots of sun am just leaving them to it. A couple of years ago I planted one in a terracotta pot with flowers as decoration and to my amazement found tubers when I emptied it out in autumn. So I would suggest perhaps painting the tub black would be sufficient and give it some blood, fish and bone fertilizer. Keep it in a sunny spot and water well but don't drown it. Good luck!

What are my sunflower leaves telling me?

Can only answer the one about the sweetcorn. I would say underwatering, that compost looks very dry to me.

Lost garden tools

Definitely, every day! Even big things like rakes. OH has painted the top of the spade and fork handles a bright yellow so I can find them more easily!

Lettuces, chinese cabbage, basil, rocket, chives, (very small) potatoes, red currants and today garlic with lovely cloves. My first garlic and I'm tickled pink!
