Fern identification and help

Posted: 05/02/2015 at 15:42

Hello Delboi

I have several of these in my garden, afraid I don't know the name either, but mine die right back and go brown. Around March I cut all the dead fronds off (could do it now but am too lazy). As it gets warmer, you will find it will grow new fronds.

"Sheesh! Only 5512 messages (ranking sixth) of utter twaddle posted on the 'brighter side'.

Sorry about that, but you do rather lead with your chin."

So, David K, you're the nosy parker who lurks anonymously on the "brigher side" as you call it. I hope it gives you a lot of satisfaction! Sad!

Morning everyone,

Thanks for the kind words about Inkadog, taking her on is the best thing we've done in a long time, she is so loving and makes us get off our chuffs and get some exercise!

Verdun, thinking of you on this sad day!

I don't post very often as am not the chatty type, but look in every day to see how you're all getting on. Hope all the pets and poorly people are ok.

Can't join in on any gardening subjects as still in the depths of winter here, 25cm of snow and a freezing easterly wind is driving all thoughts of planting anything away! Roll on Spring!

Have enjoyed all the doggie stories very much, more pics pls.

This is our Hungarian rescue dog Inka (sorry if I've shown her before)

Orchids - getting them to flower again

Posted: 15/01/2015 at 19:20

Hi VlFrance

What you're doing is fine, it's just a matter of waiting, they'll send up a new flower shoot when they're good and ready. All of a sudden you'll see what looks like a root popping up! Perhaps they need a slightly larger pot after 2 years, too. Make sure you buy good quality orchid compost and don't feed until a flower stem appears.

Orchid Help please!

Welcome to gardening.NikB

The plant is very heady in doors, Perhaps the scent is too heady? isn't it, overpowering

You have done everything wrong  with your plant and it may need help and support from other members on here.

You are a natural Gardener and you know what to do.

Not sure what to do with that? Even with my experience.

You have it. Enjoy every moment and experience some new problems and share with us, Please

Read and understand as much as you can.

You have just made my day.

But that means i'm getting old is that right???? Surely . Wild mushrooms are still legal as long as you do not dry them.

What next!!!! dried  coffee

Tin hat on!!!!! expecting

Sorry, is that the real Edd? Have you been on magic mushrooms? What has this to do with NikB's question?

Happy New Year Folks!

Gardeners who love their feline friends

Katzi, there's a separate thread about cat poo, see CATS above. This one is for cat lovers.

Have been reading this with mixed feelings. One thing I wonder about, lots of you say keep the cats indoors. This may work if you live in an upstairs apartment, but I'm sure most people who live in houses regularly leave their front doors or windows open. Open door or window, and cat goes for a stroll!

As for poo on a lawn, what about foxes, martens, even hedgehogs?
