Looking for some advice on growing plants from cuttings please??

Posted: 21/05/2013 at 20:16

Lavender is really easy to propogate...even I have managed to grow lots of plants from cuttings! Just type in How To Take Lavender Cuttings in the search bar at the top of the page you'll find a step by step guide. Good luck

Quick growing rhododendron or azalea - is there such a thing?

Posted: 21/05/2013 at 18:00

I bought two Rhodes from Morrisons last year and planted them in pots and they've more than doubled in size and have flowered beautifully this year. I also bought an Azelia which has grown really well but no flowers yet but not sure if it's flowering time for that yet anyway?

Dahlia grown from seed

Hello again Alina. Good to see you're still here on the forum

I've pinched out all the tops and put them outside so hopefully that'll do the trick.

Thank you

Dahlia grown from seed

I've grown dahlia from seed and they all look very healthy but do seem to be quite leggy.

I've grown them in the conservatory where it does get very hot when when the sun shines. Would it help if I pinched them out? Or should I move them outside into the plastic mini green house?

Cats

I tried the tea bag and muscle spray deterant only last week but the cats just dug them up too and it didn't deter them at all.

We were unsure if it was actually cats doing the digging so my husband rigged up a small camera and we couldn't believe that in a space of just a few night we managed to film 4 different cats using our garden as a toilet.

I spotted one cat doing it's business as I arrived home last night and ran at it to shoo it away and the *****y thing just looked at me, finished relieving it's self then sauntered off. If I knew where the cats lived I'd deposit their cat's doings on their garden!

Tulip & Narcissus bulbs

Someone told me that it's possible to plant spring flowerin bulbs in aquatic pots and plant them in the Autumn then lift them out after flowering, leave them in a quiet corner to die down then repeat the process again.

Is this right or was someone pulling my leg?

Has anyone used wilko's own brand? I've just bought a 60l bag half price at £2.50 I figured it was worth a try at that price!

Strawberry plants dying

Posted: 17/04/2013 at 07:09

I have 2 strawberry plants in pots which I kept in the mini greenhouse over winter. After checking a few weeks ago I thought I'd lost one of them but left it alone and hey ho it's doing just fine now so leave them a while & hopefully they'll recover

Begonia

Ok thank you.

I've just noticed another plant in the same basket has also got flower buds almost open.

I've never had them before but thought they'd grow a little more before they flowered?
