MORNING FORKERS

Woo2 & GG...my interview (well more of a formality really) was fine thanks. Don't know why I got my self all flustered about it because I have volunteered for the charity before and know the lady very well so it was more of an "oh we were so pleased to hear you wanted to come back and when you start" type of interview

Ssshhhh don't mention vine weevilkiller with-in ear shot of my husband...believe me you wont like him when he's angry! I made a ridiculously stupid  stupid, stupid, mistake with the stuff last year which resulted in the loss of quite a few of his Koi.

But no I haven't checked for the 'orrible little blighters but will do asap.

They are in a sheltered spot all huddled together in a corner between the house and conservatory and they're in about 10-12inch pots.

And oh Lyn I'm quite worried now after you saying you couldn't leave your Annabelle outside

All that said the fuchsias I have had planted in the garden and have been there for years aren't even showing any signs of life yet either and they have both survived worse winters that this so perhaps all isn't lost just yet

I have 4 Fuschias all in pots, Baby blue eyes, Annabelle, Alice Hoffman and Shrimp Cocktail none of which are showing any signs of growth yet. I believe they are all hardy and was wondering if I should be cutting them back hard or not?

Keeping Cats off My Veg Patch

Swiss Sue I saw the cat deterant you are suggesting yesterday and I'm definately going to give it a go. I'm fed up with the local cats using my garden as a tiolet.

SNOW!

Posted: 25/03/2013 at 13:31

Although it's still pretty windy here and the sun is shining the snow is melting very slowly. I've just spent an hour or so clearing the snow out of the pots because everything was getting flattened under the weight. In all honesty it was quite pleasant and really quite warm. I'm amazed how quickly the flattened mini daffs, crocus etc have perked up now that they have the sun shining on them.

Morning all. Well it's cold but we have glorious sunshine here at the moment. Lets hope it says around long enough to melt some of this darn snow!

I've applied to do some voluntary work and I'm having my "interview" in about half an hour and oh my have I got the jitters. Can't believe how it's affecting me. Wish me luck

MORNING FORKERS

Good afternoon everyone. Well I managed to sow my chilli & sweet pepper seeds and did a few other odd & sods. Was out less than an hour and I couldn't feel by fingers & toes.

The sun is shining but that wind is biting and the snow doesn't seem to be thawing much  think I might just curl up in front of the telly for an hour and watch GW and the AtoZ programme that's on after it from this morning

SNOW!

I have just come in after spending about 45mins sowing some seeds and potting on a few other things and I absolutely can't feel the tips of my fingers and toes. I'm frozen to the bone!

I'm at this minute sat trying to thaw out in the conservatory where it's lovely and warm as the sun in shining and the heating is on. Haven't even taken my coat off yet!

As my lovely old mum would say...it's flippin taters out there

Plant cuttings?

Posted: 24/03/2013 at 08:05

I took cuttings form my geraniums just last week and so far so good

As for taking cuttings I picked up a fabulous book called Propagation Basics by Steven Bradley. It's an idiots guide to propagation giving all the information you need on all types of propagation from sowing seeds to grafting and the best time to do it.

It really is an easy to follow guide to getting plants for free.
