Chelsea...........now and then

Posted: 22/05/2014 at 23:29

I like Bob Flower dew Pamela and I would like to see Christine at Chelsea also. I loved her series, she's a brilliant gardener and so down to earth. Where is Alys Fowler these days? Haven't seen her for ages.

Chelsea...........now and then

I'm disappointed with Chelsea this year. I do not like all the sculptures, too much greenery and wood, I find it all a bit bland! Sorry...but I like pretty, colorful, flowers. The flowers planted in the show gardens, were blues and whites...nice..but boring! The presenters seemed to focus on the same gardens and...went on..and..on.. I would like to have seen more of the other smaller exhibits and when we did see some of them, it was for seconds. I love Chelsea and really look forward to watching it. I'm afraid I haven't been impressed this year, so much so, I didn't vote as I usually have in the past. I will look forward to Chelsea next year and hopefully, may actually make it to the show.

This looks lovely and I will certainly be giving this planting method a go! The daffodil bulbs seem quite deep though, will they affect their growth?

Poppies in a tin hat

I shall keep trying. I must buy some packets of Flanders, I love them. Will have to look for a more sheltered spot, in which to plant them. I noticed a neighbour is growing the larger ragged looking poppies and they are beautiful! I have collected a few seed heads from him and will give theses a bash. I grew them when I lived in Lincolnshire and they were stunning! Maybe there's hope yet, especially if the weather starts returning to the summers we used to have.

I have been spraying mine daily with a mild wash of soapy water. It's worked so far.

Mind your own business

I actually like Mind Your Own Business... I can see you all raising yours eyes, but i do. In the garden centres, I have noticed it with little orange balls. Is this the same plant as I have never seen them growing on the plants in the garden.

I love poppies, but live on the coast. I have not had any sucess growing them, since moving here. Such a pity, think I shall have to move inland more.

I love those Asarina Jewel Mix. So pretty! Are they climbers? I would love to get some.
