We have a Trachycarpus Fortunei that's getting too tall for it's current location, does anyone know what the root system is like?  Is it likely to be difficult to get out?  It's about 7 foot tall (sorry don't do metric!).

If it means I've got to dig down to Australia, I'll leave it where it is!

BobTheGardener says:

You are right as it is a datura but a wild form Datura stramonium, commonly known as thorn apple:

This has appeared below my bird feeder, it has grown very rapidly and it has the most glorious perfume.

It looks a little bit like a Datura except it's blooms face upwards and the leaf shape is wrong.

I've added two photos, one shows off the leaf a bit better.

The slugs love it!

Ideas anyone?

Cymbidium - what now?

Skandi - Following your advice, I have now studied both types and yes I can now see the difference.  Bearing this in mind, I have now put the plant indoors in a well lit position.  One thing I would say is that the plant itself seems quite 'wobbly' in the soil - I wonder if I should repot it.  It is still in the pot it came in earlier this year.

Thanks Bob, it's great to have your advice!

Yes there are about three wires that slide along a horizontal one so that I can adjust them where necessary.

The cucumber is making good progress and now has side shoots and tendrils.  I've put a couple of wires up to the roof of the greenhouse, Do I take out the side shoots?

Thanks for your reply - in view of what you've said, I'll treat it as a Miltonia until I can get confirmation of what is actually is.

Cymbidium - what now?

Well it was purchased as a Cymbidium and looks exactly like the one I saw in a video made by Sarah Raven, it also flowered as a Cymbidium so I'm pretty certain that's what it is.

Just found this interesting link, I'll follow the instructions and put the pot outside for a while, as well as crossing my fingers for some success!
