I was told you have to wait until the soil is 5 minimum and that the occasional frost  won't affect the nematodes doing their job but its best to wait until the soil won't go below 5 degrees so:/ I'm guessing when they get sent to me by Marshalls they're giving me the go-ahead as they said they only send them out when conditions are right....don't know if I'm brave enough to use the scissors folks:/ bit squeamish for that one lol but not adverse to using the salt pot or my wellie booted foot) I was horrified as the size of some of them..monsters already.....needless to say they're not there this morning hehe....

just made my 1st ever hanging baskets

We gardeners are so impatient aren't we lol.. I'm attemtping a courgette plant in my greenhouse at the moment, its growing really well but I may be stumped when it comes to the pollinating  maybe put them in the greenhouse for a while if you have one? or conservatory? If not could nivelac re-pot them stongeoff and keep them going until Spring eventually arrives?...Good idea Elsie123, I bought a little notebook, complete with pen...but always  forget to write it down my kids think I'm mad because I write the date planted on the pot labels, colour etc., ah idea eh they'll get it eventually

I've just gone out to my greenhouse to turn the heater on....and encountered five fat brown slugs cruising the garden:/ ....surely with another cold spell imminent it'll kill the slimy critters?? Hubby says if you cut one eye off though they'll just go round in circles...what d'you reckon?

I grow lots of lavender and the bees seem to love it...also geraniums, fuchsias, , clematis, honeysuckle, roses - bush, rambler and climbers, rosemary, lilys, peonies, numerous summer flowering bulbs...I'm still planting up my borders so any flower the bees really love? (that slugs don't!)

Thank you for all your birthday wishes I couldn't resist christening my new bench by sowing some Cosmos, Tomatoes, cauliflowers and herbs, and potting up some fuchsias; and I'm testing out how early I can get some courgettes (my fav veggie) I've sown a couple of seeds so now to see if the heat brings me any early fruit....Happy Birthday for Saturday Bev - sounds like your girls know what Mum likes, hope your son gets the hints lol glad to read I'm not alone in having a fab OH/family to clean my wellies now......

Oh WOW! I'm a happy woman today....hubby got me the perfect birthday pressies.....a greenhouse heater, a potting bench, tray etc.,  and a beautiful rose bush  (now he's either encouraging me to keep growing and listened to me oohing and ahhing over my gardening catalogue or......his plan is to keep me out in the greenhouse longer lol...) one very happy gardener here  (not bragging btw just wanted to share my happy surprise with fellow gardeners

carrot cake....have to disagree I quite like it but courgette cake????YUK! what is that all about:/  that is a vegetable best roasted alongside a juicy leg of lamb...(mouth watering and I've only just finished breakfast:/) I have a sister-in-law who insists on cooking whacky cakes using different root veg and squash:/ we smile....swallow...and decline the second slice.....just a good old victoria sponge or chocolate cake next time plllllleeeeeeease

Have re-potted them inch of grit at the bottom of each pot and no water, just damp compost with a bit of vermiculite mixed in it.  Thanks for all your advice
