Anyone have a list of plants that can be succesfully sown using toilet rolls/kitchen rolls?

Flowers on onions

I've got little flowers shaped like tiny bulbs on the tips of my onions, do I cut them off?

Yea, thanks David K. I'm OK with NPK and what they mean and what they're used for, I just wasn't too sure about the merits of compost against top soil, as I have a very small garden with no room for a compost bin, so I have to buy either top soil or compost. I have been told I'm better off buying top soil and adding liquid growmore, rather than buying compost as it only lasts for one year! I just needed confirmation!

Is top soil enough to grow plants in, or do you need compost as well?

Thanks for that Chris 7, but my garden isn't big enough for full size compost bins or cold frames!

Compost bin/cold frame

I have a very small garden, but still grow flowers and fruit and vegetables in one raised bed (8'x4') small borders and containers. But would like to produce my own compost, and make a small cold frame! Any ideas for sizes, materials and plans would be most welcome.
