Choisya ternata, how far to plant apart?

Posted: 06/08/2016 at 10:41

I've just bought two Choisya ternata. I want them to overlap comfortably and not to have any obvious gap. How far apart should I plant them?

The guide says they "can" spread 2.5m, but I've also seen they might only spread 1.5m.

Plant recommendations

Can anyone recommend a plant to put into these two containers?

Currently contains two buxus plants. When I moved in they were left behind. I hadn't a plan for them, so potted them in these containers. I want a change now.

Its the front garden and north facing. Shade for most of the day, especially during winter. A bit exposed to the wind, the street seems a channel for it in October, and I live in the north east of England. Would like something evergreen or something interesting in the winter.

I had thought about sarcococca confusa.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks for reading

Lawn Aerator Shoes

My lawn feels hard and lumpy.  Would the aeration and adding the sharp sand help a compacted lawn.

Thanks, I've had a read. Conclusion, spikes don't go down far enough, like i thought.

Lawn aerator shoes, are they any good? Or should I just stick to a fork to aerate the lawn?

Buxus Hedge

I've just planted a box hedge. I'm very chuffed with myself as they are all from cuttings I have taken two years ago.

What's a good fertiliser to promotet healthy roots this autumn? I've got some one year old leafmould to top dress.

Hardy Annuals

I've probably space to germinate in the house, but once I start putting them into individual cells I won't have the room.

Hardy Annuals

I'm thinking of sowing some hardy annual this month. If I leave them in the greenhouse, bog standard un-heated, will they still survive the winter.

I live in the north east of England, it can get pretty cold where I live, as I am on the edge of the city and am semi rural.

Any tips? Insulate the greenhouse with bubble wrap. Individual plastic covers for the trays. There's not really a lot of room in the house and come winter the central heating is on.

Crocosmia, no flowers just lushus foliage.

Thank all.

Like I say, or should add, I planted the bulbs about two years ago (could be three) and NEVER had flowers. I've just given them a tomato feed today, first time ever.

Foxgloves, is it too late to sow?

Great idea Susan.  I'm often worried that  if I scatter seeds, then later I won't know if they are meant to be or are weed seedlings. I might try that method too.
