Beware of companies offering vouchers and cash back.

Small victory, got both £10 back after a few emails from me.

Grandpa had one just like it

I remember my grandad had a petrol lawn mower. I burnt my hand on the hot engine part, I must have been about 3 years old. Hurt quite a bit at the time, but my grandad could do no wrong in my eyes and I still followed him about in the garden while he cut the grass.

It seemed a huge garden when I was small, full of places to explore and play, but when I visit my nan's house now, my grandad died some 20 years ago, the garden doesn't seem so big.

Many fond memories

Thanks all.

They refunded me one of my £10, but I've complained to them and asked for the other..."Shy bairns get nowt," and all that.

Trying to raise a little awareness and turn something positive out of the situation.

Hello,

I feel so stupid, but today while checking my bank account, I found a two £10 direct debits that I didn't recognise. Of course I contacted my bank immediately, but while I was talking to them, I realised that I had bought something from Argos six weeks ago and at the end of that transaction, a company (shopper discounts and rewards) said I could claim a £15 voucher off my next online purchase with Argos. I must have agreed something with them.

I contacted them and they cancelled my 'membership' with them with no quibbles and thankfully I check my account regularly and haven't lost much.

Okay, many may say, SO you DIDN'T read the small print, but it seems I'm not alone, heres an articule written in the Guardian ---- http://bit.ly/1a4ST0i

Just be aware and careful, they work with companies like Argos and B&Q. I aslo contacted Argos to say this could damage their reputation and got a lovely telephone call from them.

I feel stupid, but if anyone can learn from my mistake, all the better.

Strange weather we've been having

Hot chocolate with marshmellows and cream for me on these autumnal evenings. It's been wet and mild really here (north east of england), not had the heating on all that much.

Problem Weed

I thought the definition of a weed was," a plant growning in the wrong place."

Hello, I have that regularly growing in my garden too. Don't know it's name. I don't think there is a long term solution, except to pull it up or hoe over every time that you see it growing.

My neighbour has a bit of an unkempt garden and the wild seeds probably just fly over the fence all the time and land in my nice soil
