MORNING FORKERS

Posted: 01/10/2013 at 10:31

Just when you thought it was safe, she's back!! Good to see the forum is back to normal, in more ways than one.

Morning one and all. Chicky, it's not dark here when I get up. I wonder why that is!

No gardening for me until next year.  Have always said I'm a fair weather gardener that's why I always feel a bit of a fraud being here.  Did spend time last week cutting the grass for the last time this year and then went on to 'titivate'.  Unfortunately, some little critter took a fancy to my hand and the next day I had to visit the UCC at local hospital as my arm was like that of Marshmallow Man! Painful and itchy.  Prescribed penicillin and anti histimenes and arm now almost back to normal.  Have vowed not to enter the war zone until I have an astronaught's outfit. Supposing it had been my face!!

I was stupid enough to read Dove's post that everything should be puried. I think that's what you call thick.  Did wonder though whether the vino had taken over but then realised it was Dove and not MrsG. Said in the nicest possible way MrsG.  Hope son is getting on well at school, even if he isn't there today.

Sun's just arrived.  I am not temped to garden but will get my Weetabix.

Have a good day everyone.

MORNING FORKERS

Morning. Is there no end to your knowledge Dove. Said in the nicest way.  I know nothing about wildlife.

If I look out the bay window, I have clear blue sky and out of the french windows it's decidedly grey.  Will look out of bay. But I will still be wearing my sandals and my Summer clothes.

When I was clearing the shed, I found a basket with loads of bulbs in it.  They seem firm enough so am going to plant them and hope for the best.  Will put them in pots I think.

Think I will pay a visit to my granddaughter today.  Well actually I'm going to see if there's anything her Mum wants doing. Dad's been back to work since Wednesday.  Being freelance, no lengthy paternity leave, with pay,  for him. Their sons are extremely good and have really pulled their weight which has made things easier all round.

Mustn't dilly dally on this laptop this morning otherwise nothing will get done.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Maud, don't get me started or I will write a book.  Only live a short distance from where I was born so am surrounded by childhood memories.  Few years back, whilst out with my daughter, she wanted to see what had happened to the bungalow where I was born and my parents lived until they passed away.  People I sold to were in the front garden so I introduced myself and we were invited in.  Not sure whether that was a good or bad thing as it was no longer how I remembered it and I felt a bit sad but was able to move on as I still referred to it as 'home'. See lots of people I've known since the year dot and friends of my brother too.

Temperature's dropped but still wearing my sandels. Intend doing so till my toes get frostbite.

Morning. Humid here and have had some rain overnight.  Looking very dreary on this late Summer morning. (OK Woody?)

Spent some time with new granddaughter yesterday.  Was quite worn out when I got back but have to say that her mum was very relaxed about her screeching.  Now I know why I have resigned from babysitting!  Other two grandchildren were there and made a lot of noise but you can tell them to shut up.  Their noise was brought on by eldest grandson tormenting them. He got a clip round the ear. Was glad to get home.

MrsG, how is your son getting on?

Panda, you will find may of us posters have been where you are and come out the other side.  Take any medication as it's there to help you as is not addictive.  Well, I didn't find it so. Talk about how you feel even to us as we are all very good listeners and will understand.

Hope it's not too wet a day for everyone.

Come on Woody, altogether now:

Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

Except it isn't. Just ventured into the loft again to confirm what I saw yesterday, started coughing and I think son was worried I was about to expire.  Don't think he would be up to giving me a fireman's carry down. So, had to leave it, feeling very agitated and annoyed.

Apart from that, very hot and sunny.

Babe's 3 new outfits just turned up.

And I requested that the 'C' word is not mentioned until December (think I'm pushing my luck).

Still Summer here Woody and long may it last. Is it OK to say that the mornings are a bit nippy?

Some idiot's sitting outside in a car with his music blaring.  Best watch out as my next door neighbour will be thumping on his window. Love it.

MOB rants

Zoomer, there are children's clothes up there starting from 3 months. Eldest granddaughter now 11, her brother 's 8. Toys galore from baby to early teens, a pram, (DIL can have that) dining chairs, computers, model aircraft, etc, etc.  The only thing not there is the kitchen sink. It was all supposed to be sold at car boot sale but I can't remember which year that was!  Granddaughter told me they had had a massive clear out at home this weekend and she discovered she had things she never knew she had.  How sad is that and how typical of the younger generation.  I get very angry with the amount of clothes and toys my grandchildren are bought.  Anyway have told daughter it's got to go and not when she feels like doing it, but now.  Eldest son will be told the same thing in a while.  Get daughter sorted first.

It's actually stressing me as I can see it's going to be a major operation. I just want to find my box of keepsakes.  One box, that's all.

Last time I used that Waterbuts I was not happy with the callers.  Seemed to have changed from when I first started using it some years back.  Very pushy and one caller wanted to come round there and then.  It was about 10 at night!

Thought I would find the right thread to have a rant.

Ventured into the loft, where I haven't been for a number of years to find it chockerbkloc with boxes of goodness knows what, none of which are mine.  In fact, I could not find my little box of treasures.  The main culprit is my daughter whose loft is tiny, having had a loft conversion. So, over the years I have heard 'can I put some things in your loft', but nothing has ever come out!  Eldest son not a lot better and youngest son a hoarder anyway.

So, I will be on the warpath.  Absolutely ridiculous and, I think, a bit of a cheek.  Must be a fire hazard with so much paper, clothes and soft toys, etc.

Rant over.

Morning. Shame some of you have to work but your time will come, hopefully, unless the government decide differently.

I'll second that Woody. I'm in for a hot 2 days. Also, can we have an agreement that the 'C' word is not mentioned until December, even though the shops and TV are already at it.

Do hope your son has a great day MrsG.  If I remember correctly, he was a big hit with the teachers when he went for his 'induction' day.  I think we mums worry more than the kids do.

Nothing much being done today except I want to get in loft, son here, to try and find a shawl I was given 42 years ago.  It will be carefully wrapped so should be OK.  I don'tthink it will be used but I just want to make sure I still have it.  Don't know why.  Don't think I'll be going down that road again!

Oh, by the way Woody, my granddaughter 'Skyped' me last night.  So advanced these days aren't they.

Wished I lived near you FB.  My favourite apple. Had a tree in my parents' garden and I used to cut them up to make sure there were no nasties and have a huge bowlful.  Don't even see them in supermarkets these days.
