Poetry corner (such an original title)

Posted: 18/09/2013 at 22:53

I got some statistics on line about the angel of the north and wrote a little rhyme based on them

Four double decker busses would not exceed his hight.

He's one of Englands icons, a most impressive sight.

Can jumbo jets outspan him, this angel of renown

He doesn't wear a halo, and his skin is reddish brown

He's loved by all who know him, no one can guess his worth

 He is our special angel

The angel of the north

Slowly silently now the moon, walks the night in her silver shoon

This way and that she peers and sees, silver fruit upon silver trees

One by one the casements catch, her beams beneath the silvery thatch

Crouched in his kennel like a log, with paws of silver sleeps the dog

From their shadowy cotes the white breasts peep of doves in a silver feathered sleep

A harvest mouse goes scampering by, with silver claw and silver eye

And moveless fish in the water gleam of silver reeds in a silver stream

I was tought this at school many (MOONS) ago

When Tom and I were first married(-many years ago-)

When Tom and I were first married we used to visit Farndale in Yorkshire which was covered in daffodills.

People used to walk away with armfuls. which eventually almost  destroyed the area. It then became illegall to pick them.

tea bags

I only use loose tea ,as  I live in a hard water area which leaves a scum floating on the top ,,so should I save them for my compost or put them directly on to the soil .

Talkback: September in the garden

Posted: 11/09/2012 at 21:27

My Cosmos are over six feet tall ,and are just beginning to flower, Roses are dying back after a short flowering period.  I bought quite a few new perennials to fill the space where my greenhouse used to be.. The soil was abit clumpy so was advised to apply soil improver, local supplier satd it would act like viagra,  he was right
