Irony has nothing to do with it. I hope the lawn will recover. Thanks for the advice.

I fear I have used too much fertiliser on my lawn and now have several patches of withered dead grey grass. Should I leave it till Spring to reseed or should I do it now?

Hydrangea colour

It is alkaline soil, but I wondered whether adding ericaceous compost to the soil would help. What do you think?

I imagined that the colourant would maintain/reverert back to the original colour ie blue.  Any thoughts?

I wanted to keep some hydrangeas blue, but they revert to pink.  I have clay soil and have been using colourant on them but so far it does not seem to make a difference.

Any suggestions, please.

Problem solved!

It has rained a lot today and the flower head has appeared. It appears to be some type of distorted evening primrose...Perhaps all of the plants I removed and thought were weeds were in fact attacked by the aphids some of the more eagle eyed amongst you suggested.

Thanks for the help.

The plant self seeded.  Any compost (Homebase) was used around other plants without any ill  effect and it is certainly not weedkiller.

I have not heard of fasciation, it may be affected by this, but I still do not know what the plant may be...Any more ideas?

If so Dove, why has it not affected other plants?

No weedkillers, nutcutlett.

All 5  plants looked like this. They are growing in with my hydrangeas and so far nothing else has been affected.

I don't think so, Dove. The leaves appear to have grown like this on the other plants too. I have just noticed the insect, however I am more interested in what the plant/weed may be.
