WE have a family of about twenty sparrows in our hedge so every time we dealt wth the patches in our lawn with grass seed they loved it!! We in the end bought turf which worked a treat

Isnt it so annoying when non gardening friends dont share your enthusiasm i love talking plants growing my own. I take alot of pleasure in giving plants away too. Our neighbour that comes from a great gardening family has decided to cut in a border into their grass he hopes to have it ready this weekend, well im ready ive potted up about twenty plants as a start for them I find this so excting

happymarion you truly are an inspiration i hope im gardening away at your age and thats not being patronising to you i really do admire you. So many would give up but no your having raised beds to make life easier. I was so lucky my husband made me two from old wood we had, only wee ones but they keep us in leeks, cabbage,sprouts,lettuce and brocoli I have a greenhouse for everything else which we need up here in the Highlands of Scotland

aquilegias,verbascum,geraniums,scabious all self seed in my garden all plants i adore. euphorbia also self seed and although i adore them too i will cut them back this year apart from the variety fireglow which is amazing and after 7 years has now seeded

The tomato plants made me laugh.. I once went into tidy up a neighbours over grown pot outside her front door (a very large clay pot). This was in my early days of gardening, I was happily pruning away and snip.. I cut the main stem of her clematis,it took me a long time to get over the guilt of that.. little did i know then it probably did it good and it would have grown again.I never found out I moved house shortly after

Apple Trees

my son has grown an apple tree which is now 13years old and 10ft tall but has never produced a flower. Ive been told it may produce in time. my son is 20 now so maybe in time for his children one day

so cold 9.8c its meant to be nice tomorrow. I hope to be helping a friend with her garden tomorrow. I feel we all should give a hand I hope one day when I cant manage a neighbour will help me

asters for one you cant get rid of them easily either. Reading the list of plants others dont like is so interesting we all have our different ideas which is a good thing
