I never put the stone in the compost heap.  They never rot down, so they go in the waste food bin for the Council to deal with.

Anything that is not grass is broadleafed, whatever its shape.  That is how they differentiate them.  Some weedkillers can be used on broadleafed weeds, but will not kill the grass. Some weedkillers will kill everything.

It is a wild geranium/cranesbill.  Seeds everywhere.  A pest.

Non Flowering Plants

Magnolia does not like being pruned and will throw up lots of 'water shoots' if you do.

If anybody is thinking of buying a magnolia, make sure you can put it somewhere where it will not require pruning.

Garlic problems

If the roots are growing well, sometimes they tend to push the plant up rather than pulling it down.  Was the ground well tilled?

If the pond is covered with wire, how can the children enjoy it?

Children drown if they can't get out of a pond.  I think all four of my children have had a ducking in various ponds over the years.

Eternal vigilance is the only thing.  Or give up the pond idea until they are old enough to be safe..
