Frankie try dryopteris as these are okay with dry soil other news,  I went shopping today,  can't wait for warmer days

how many years of mulch to improve soil ?

I have the ubiquitous left over builder's rubble just as hosta mentions, with concrete overspills and buried treasure.

I have been improving my soil for as long as I can recall, 10yrs I guess. I always dig a bigger planting hole and never skimp on adding compost, it helps but  I'll never be able to grow bog plants, guems are about my limit, but I don't water much either except geums, due to very think layers of mulch

on the up side, I can dig it whenever I want, it's never hard work and what weeds do grow, are easy to pull out

Always used to amaze me how I struggled to grow the perfect lawn and yet my borders would boast the world's lushest grass with beastly roots!

Cloudy but warm morning but sunny now....really very pleasant.   No wind here either

Cut a hedge and other stuff for a friend this morning and now trimming large eunymous, pittosporum Irene Patterson and pruning here.  Grow these and other evergreens as cones or mounds...

No wonder it's windy in the west, Alantic air can bounce right over to us now

can't wait for pics, I do love a good shape in the garden
