Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I haven't got an allotment but we bought a cottage 4 yrs ago in a village and it has an unusual lay out regarding the gardens. We have a back garden which was quite 'up together' when we moved here and I have been managing that and adding my own touches. The front garden was a bit haphazard and although we look out onto about 50 ft, the last quarter of the garden belongs to our neighbour and they have rights of access down our garden path to get to the front of their cottage. We extended our kitchen which is at the front so ended up re structuring the whole garden which I'm really pleased with.
we also have another garden which runs parallel to our neighbours back garden ( we have rights of access all around their cottage ) and this is the area that I'm hoping to completely restructure over the next couple of years. When we moved here it just looked like a huge expanse of grass which we just mowed to keep tidy but there was loads of weeds throughout. Over the last year or so we built temporary veggie beds just so we could grow a little produce. This year I have managed to clear a larger area and I'm trying to get a better layout for future planting.
It's encouraging to read all your posts and the pics look fab too! It's handy that I don't have to walk far for my 'allotment type' garden but it would be nice to talk to other allotment folk for advice and encouragement...... Which is why I zoomed in on here once I saw the thread! I've been here over an hour just reading through from the beginning
I'm a bit if a techno-phobe but will try and take some pics tomorrow, weather permitting and see if I can manage to post them.
As it's 2.15am think I'd better go to bed! Will catch up here tomorrow......happy gardening all
